Córdoba is located in the heart of Argentina, approx. 750 northwest of Buenos Aires and 750 km east of Mendoza. Córdoba is the second largest city of the country with its 1.5 millions residents. About 10% are university students who makes Córdoba a young and vibrant student city. At you university quarter “Nueva Córdoba” you can go out every night and party ´till dawn.
The nearby mountain ridge “Sierras de Córdoba” are just 30 km away from the city. A very nice touristic area for the locals who loves to swim in the warm rivers during summer time. In January and February famous festivals take place in the Province of Córdoba like the national gaucho rodeo “Festival Nacional de la Doma y el Folclore” in Jesús Maria or the folk music festival in Cosquin, continued by the Cosquin Rock festival.
All in all Córdoba is a fantastic place to study the Spanish language (or “el castellano” how they call it here), to do an internship at a local company or volunteer in a social or animal care project. If you like to gain some bucks for your travel budget you can also look for a funny work and travel job in one of the numerous bars and cafés downtown.
